Intel Announces Workforce Reductions Across US and India Amid Restructuring
Intel Corporation (INTC) is implementing significant layoffs across its US and Indian operations as part of a broader cost-cutting initiative. The chipmaker, which has struggled to maintain its position among big tech peers, is eliminating 15-20% of its workforce in India—its largest engineering hub outside the US—alongside hundreds of positions in Oregon, California, and Arizona.
The restructuring follows leadership changes and operational overhauls designed to streamline the company. "Removing organizational complexity and empowering our engineers will enable us to better serve the needs of our customers and strengthen our execution," Intel stated. This marks the third major round of layoffs in recent years, coinciding with the discontinuation of its automotive technology division.
